5th Annual Symposium of Architectural Research

The 5th Symposium of Architectural Research in Finland was held in 28.-30.8.2013 at the Tampere University of Technology, Tampere, Finland. More information about the seminar can be found here. The theme this year was ”Architecture and Resilience” and presented keynote lectures by Halina Dunin-Woyseth, Lars Marcus, Juval Portugali and Andres Sevtsuk.

The seminar presented a wide rage of topics from the field of architectural research. Toni Österlund gave a presentation on behalf of the Adaptive Urban Lighting research team titled “Designing adaptive lighting using network-based agents”. The presentation demostrated the adaptive lighting design tool called “VirtuAUL”.

It mentions the work done by architects Toni Österlund and Eero Lundén in the field of algorithm aided design (noted in the article as “parametric architecture”) and the Ligna pavilion is prominently on display.
