Ground broken at house metsalyhty site

The ground work at house metsälyhty [forest lantern] begun at the small town of Noormarkku, Finland. House metsälyhty is an economic one family wooden detached house, of approximately 130 square meters. It will sit near the timber line in forest bound neighborhood of Noormarkku.

eCAADe 2012 at Prague

eCAADe 2012 at Prague

 

The eCAADe 2012 was held this year at Czech Technical University at Prague, Faculty of Architecture at 12th – 14th of September. eCAADe, or the International Conference on Education and research in Computer Aided Architectural Design in Europe was now held for the 30th time.

The theme of the conference this year was Digital Physicality | Physical Digitality. Henrika Pihlajaniemi and Toni Österlund were there representing t he Adaptive Urban Lighting research team. They presented a paper about the development of the LightStories, titled Tools for Interaction and User Participation in Urban Lighting: Lightstories Case.

“NILAs” at YLE news

The Light Houses: On the Common Nordic Ground exhibition at the Nordic Pavillion at the 2012 Venice architecture biennale displays sculptures from 32 Nordic architecture offices. Among the 11 offices from Finland, is the design collaboration Lundén, Österlund & Wikar with their NILAs sculpture.  Lunden Österlund Wikar is a research collaborative focused on exploring the potentials of digital design and fabrication methods based in Helsinki and Tampere, Finland. The collaborative includes Eero Lunden (born 1982), Toni Österlund (born 1983) and Markus Wikar (born 1978).
